Laptop, You Are Cleared For Docking

If you use a laptop as your “primary” computer, then a docking station just makes sense. When you go on the road, all you really need to take is your laptop and a power cord. But when you’re in the office, you might prefer to use an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Sure you could plug all these items directly into your laptop, but docking stations and port replicators do the job much easier. A full docking station mirrors all of the ports, plugs, and slots on your laptop. External devices like keyboards, mice, scanners, printers, and monitors all plug into the docking station along with power and network cables and anything else that you normally plug directly into your laptop. When you plug your laptop into the docking station, all of those devices operate as if they were connected directly to the laptop. The Laptop docking stations becomes an extension of the laptop.

Dell’s laptops also provide plenty of room for all your plug and play devices. Each laptop comes standard with at least two USB 2.0 ports, but many of the laptops feature four ports. USB 2.0 allows peripherals such as printers, digital cameras, scanners, and MP3 players to be easily connected to the laptop. Most laptops also feature a IEEE 1394 (Firewire) port. This port can be used to connect a video camera or similar devices, and perform functions such as importing video. Audio jacks can be found in every Dell laptop also, which lets you plug in headphones or a pair of external speakers.

Everyone in my family agrees that my grandmother needs to go into assisted living except my grandmother. For the first time ever, I sat down with her and told her what she should do. That was hard. I just pray that some of it sinks in.My uncle is very, very sick with cancer. He is facing a six or eight week routine of chemo and then surgery.The award from my peers at work is great, but pales in importance to the two points above, but thanks anyway.
